wow matt you are so stupid. Fedor has won 6 of his fights by decision and you say he ‘finished everyone’? you are so stupid. also, nate beat him in 21 seconds, and wow anderson has now won 7 fights by decision big f**ing deal, get off fedor’s nuts and get your facts straight

  4. jpcg on April 10th, 2010 5:21 pm

im a big maia fan, anderson win by unanimous decision because he didnt wanted to finish the fight.. he started dominating maia and then he stoped fghting.. and Matt what if nate knocked him out.. chael sonnen beated nate’s ass, and demian maia submitted chael sonnen in the first round..

  10. Jimmy Cat on April 10th, 2010 8:25 pm

Just reading the comments on these page is proof of how the creators of the martial arts must be rolling over in their graves. That’s what happens when you hand over the secrets to the orangutan Americans. You start hearing brainless and characterless nonsense like “kick his ass” and “knock the f****n’ s**t.” I wish these disciplines would’ve stayed in their respective cultures. Americans always end up exploiting and cheapening everything.

  11. big chris on April 10th, 2010 8:39 pm

silva is the best he beat NATE he beat james irvin at 205 forrest rich dan hendo travis L. chris L. so whos next????

  12. MMAGhost on April 10th, 2010 9:25 pm

GSP VS Silva at a catch weight. I also really wanted to see Silva Box Roy Jones Jr. but all the talks about both these fights just seemed to have stopped…….

  13. Ben on April 10th, 2010 9:48 pm

yes Matt you are indeed a****ing r***ard if you want to brag about nate beating him in 21 seconds at least understand anderson silva beat nates ass and if you honestly believe he’s beaten no one notable then you are ****in stupid son look at his list of fights

  14. sand on April 10th, 2010 10:46 pm

fedor lost to who? nate? fedor never loses atleast th ecans h efight he finishes them. your man anderson cant even finish cans

  15. sand on April 10th, 2010 10:51 pm

fedor hitlist silva ufc champ, arloski ufc champ, randleman ufc champ, nog 2 times. also a ex ufc champ crocop, coleman ufc champ. never lost to anyone all hail fedor the great.

  16. Gss on April 10th, 2010 10:53 pm

    Fedor Emelianenko, the Greatest ever….P4P #1 !!!!

  17. Joel on April 10th, 2010 10:55 pm

I cannot wait until GSP and Anderson Silva fight so Anderson can beat the **** out of GSP and make him look like a fool like he did Maia, it’s gonna be the best day

  18. jm on April 10th, 2010 11:26 pm

    fedor will dominate all

  19. Kit on April 10th, 2010 11:44 pm

Im gonna get ripped for this but Fedor is dodging the real fighters by staying away from the UFC also fedor has a loss or two I dont know his record exactly. If anyone is gonna beat Silva at 185 it will be Belfort and no one else at the moment. Id like to see jim bones against Silva that would give either fighter a shot at the belt at 205.

  20. sand on April 10th, 2010 11:54 pm

fedor never lost he got a cut in his forehead so they had to stop the fight. silva lost 4 times

  21. Fedor on April 10th, 2010 11:56 pm

@sand: Since when has Crocop ever been a former UFC champ? D U M B A S S !!! Fedor has RECENTLY fought a bunch of has-beens that are way past their prime. Arlovski “The Glass Jaw, ” Tim Sylvia, Hong-Man Choi (never was to begin with), Matt Lindland. I’ll give him Brett Rogers. Don’t get me wrong, if I had to fight him I’d chew my way out of the cage faster than it takes me to cum but stop sucking Fedor’s D I C K !!! He get’s enough of that on his own. Oh and by the way, finish the sixth grade before you decide to post anything. Your spelling sucks.

LET THE WAR OF WORDS BEGIN!!!

  22. KW on April 11th, 2010 12:26 am

That was the most disapointing PPV I’ve ever paid for. Anderson Silva sucks, puts on some show….what a huge rip off that was. I should’ve went to bed. I will NEVER pay for another Anderson Silva fight ever again. The Penn fight sucked too. Oh yea, so did the Hughes fight aswell. That whole event ate ****….

  23. dan robin on April 11th, 2010 12:45 am

Matt.. stfu .. he OBVIOUSLY could of finished his punk ass WHENEVER he wanted.. ohh & if fedor was so damn “good” like you pride keep claiming.. he would be in the ufc fighting every 6 months.. instead hes in strikeforce.. fighting every 2 years cause their is NO ONE good enough to fight.. s*****.. and keep buyin the ufc payper views cause you love it 8===D

  24. mclaren on April 11th, 2010 12:46 am

Silva is so ****y and has horrible sportsmanship. I cant wait for someone to knock his punk ass out. I lost all remaining respect I had for silva in this fight.

  25. Max on April 11th, 2010 2:58 am

    @ Jimmy Cat

….you realize Anderson Silva’s brazillian right?

  26. WhitePutty39 on April 11th, 2010 3:22 am

go hard or go home! really i cant hate on silva for mocking maia, if he really wanted to win the belt that bad, then he should of attempted to TRY and knockout silva. cmon he’s the challanger, he should want the Win even more then Silva. but i guess not and thats y he got clowned on! and also i give it up to silva because he doesnt struggle to win, doesnt even break a sweat. haha

  27. shark on April 11th, 2010 4:14 am

    Fights like a N****

  28. Bla on April 11th, 2010 5:14 am

This is the best p4p fighter? he couldn’t finish the NO-stand up guy?(no offense to Maia of course)

My god that Dana White is some absurd, senseless, ridiculous, self-contradicting dude…you know I could also dance around with my friend and then after 3 rounds I could say that I beat him and toyed with him…BUT WHAT I DID BESIDES DANCING AROUND!? NOTHING!? when you see Silva actually DO something then you can say “he’s toying with him”.

Cause I believe that if he was dancing like that in front of somebody like Gegard Mousasi he would get KOed the hell out.

  29. roy on April 11th, 2010 5:51 am

I think that Silva vs Machida would be a heaps better match up.

  30. Cody on April 11th, 2010 11:15 am

For Silva to go in there and make Maia look like a complete ***** for 5 rounds is better than any knock out, I think this is Silva’s way of calling him a little **** talking punk. If you watch the post fight interviews on UFC Silva says thats why he did it. Maia has disrespected him as a fighter to much before and going in to the fight , and he wanted to go in there and make him look like a foolish fighter that he is.

Come on for being the number one contender and Silva had his hands down half the fight and jumpin around all over the place and Maia couldn’t land one solid punch. I couldn’t help but to enjoy it. That just shows Silva is on a complete different level.

I know a lot of the fans want that 10 second knock out, but really look at what Silva was doing in there he made the number one contender look weak and vulnerable from every angle.

  31. Cody on April 11th, 2010 11:17 am

I think if Silva was fighting someone he respected more he would be doing that.

Exp. Forrest Griffen, Rich Franklin, etc.

  32. nelly on April 11th, 2010 2:42 pm

Silva’s first three title defense were against top notch tier 1 opponents while his last three against tier 2 fighters who had no chance against him. Seriously I don’t blame him for clowning around like that although it was disgraceful and he should of just knocked out Maia in the 3rd round. UFC should put him up against the most dangerous fighters in the middleweight: Wanderlei Silva, Belfort, and maybe Bisping. If he wins then he clearly should move to LHW where 2/3 of the fighters are dangerous.

  33. Francisco Filho on April 11th, 2010 4:55 pm

Demian Maia foi um guerreiro! Na minha concepção ganhou a luta, pois procurou o combate a luta toda. E o anderson foi um palhaço que só correu!

  34. sdg on April 11th, 2010 5:19 pm

stop hatn on silva he obviously doesnt suck… i think he was holding back on him cause he didnt wanna embarrrass his fellow brazilian but he did anyways so thats wierd but he was definitely holding back and btw Vetor Belfort( the guy silva was supposed to fight originally) is an amazing fighter look him up if u dont know who he is. hes a veteran amazing! but i still think silva would win against him…it would be a close fight though! and why is dana *****ing its his fault he shouldnt have put demien maia against silva WTF was he thinking?! I think silva did this on purpose to get back at dana for disrespecting him like that if belfort got injured fine postpone the fight or something! this is like putting kenny florian in front o Penn! it shouldnt happen its a ripoff from the beginning! speaking o Penn he definitely ahoulda won! I DONT know WTF the judges saw or were thinking—> they said that edgar won every single round! that horse**** the only round he had was the fifth penn won the rest and dominated the first two! he landed way more shots and countered almost everything he threw, he also dominated octagon control….>>> HE WAS ****ING CHASING EDGAR THE WHOLE ****ING FIGHT THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS WERE COMPLETELY ONE SIDED! EDGAR DIDNT PROVE OR WIN ANYTHING I KNOW DEEP DOWN IN HIS HEART HE DOESNT FEEL LIKE HE DESERVES THAT BELT…

  35. Respect on April 11th, 2010 5:21 pm

First off most of what everyone is saying is bull****. I dont like Silva but I still give the guy ***king credit. Dont ever doubt that mans ability to win….desicion, ko, or submission the man is good. Secondly some of you have to realize that in western countries we exploit things untill they can be no longer. Id like to see people sit down and just enjoy the fight for what it is…..two guys showing off there technique and desire to win.

    just enjoy mma

MMA IN ONTARIO !!!!! ITS GOING TO HAPPEN.

  36. sdg on April 11th, 2010 5:21 pm

WTF???? BISBING???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO hahahahahahahahahahah MAIA COULD BEAT HIM hes **** wanderlei was holding back on him til the last minute in the fight and knocked him out in like the last ten secs o the fight. BISBING IS A *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. Billy Joe on April 11th, 2010 5:26 pm

I love how many of the people that put in like “kick his a**!” or “knock the s*** out of that punka** b****!” don’t even know how to fight. It’s like they’re dissapointed that they couldn’t have a done a certain “technique” or way of doing a fight, yet they don’t even know how to do it… -.-

  38. sdg on April 11th, 2010 5:29 pm

***K ALL YOU HATING ON SILVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REGARDLESS OF WAT YOU THINK HE IS STILL THE BEST POUND FOR POUND FIGHTER IN THE WORLD PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE FIGHT SUCKED BUT IT SHOULDNT HAVE HAPPENED ANYWAYS ITS DISGRACEFUL TO PUT A CLOWN LIKE MAIA AGAINST HIM OBVIOUSLY HE GONNE CLOWN AROUND LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!!! ITS NOOBS LIKE YOU THAT GET INFLUENCED BY MEDIA AND OTHER PEOPLES OPINIONS **** YOU AND STOP PULLING SHIT OUT YOUR ASSSSSSSS! ***K OFF JUST CAUSE O ONE BAD FIGHT THAT SHOULDNT HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE EVERYONES HATING ON HIM?! 39. blake on April 11th, 2010 6:48 pm

silva is the best pound to pound fighter in the world. maia shouldnt even step in the ring with him lol he sai he was going home with the belt but all he whent home with is a close eye n a broken nose!!

  40. Jeswandi "The Wolf Harvester" Jones on April 11th, 2010 6:56 pm

OK GUYS. STOP CUSSING! I swear my eyes hurt just reading all of these comments. And plus, you guys are crazy because ufc is SO overated. Now WWE is where its at. I would take Hulk Hogan over Anderson Silva any day of the week. Especially in a ladder match.
    HULK HOGAN > ANDERSON SILVA

  41. Boss Man on April 11th, 2010 7:41 pm

@kit…….OMG i seriously think that you should have to pass an MMA I.Q. test to even write onb these forums cause i literally get sick from dumb ass people that call themselves “fans” because right now in todays world its cool to wear a tapout shirt and be a Brock Lesnar fan………Kit, WHO THE F*** IS JIM BONES????? I will have to assume that you are talking about JON “BONES” JONES……anyone who says silva sucks is a dumbass, and to say hes beaten know one is a joke…….i wont say fedor blows, but he has never fought an MMA fight against a fighter IN THEIR PRIME other than brett rodgers, who came dangerously close to tko’ing him……LOL CRO COP WAS NEVER UFC CHAMP! NOG was never any good in the UFC, he was sweet in pride though……..SHANE CARWIN IS THE BEST HEAVYWEIGHT IN THE WORLD, NO ONE CAN TOUCH HIM!

  42. Jason on April 11th, 2010 8:44 pm

Silva shouldn’t even apologize for his performance. He easily beat maia without maia ever posing him a threat. he made a fool of him with his great skill and technique in the first 3 rounds than he coasted in the 4th and 5th. There is nothing wrong with that. At that point, it is up to maia to try and change the fight. actually watch the fight. maia just stands and circles watching silva. he was just hoping and praying that silva would jump in his guard so he would have a chance. This was actually a great display by silva. maia should be criticized for not trying to fight him. jiu-jitsu guys always talk about how 80% of fights end up on the ground, but they forget to realize that 100% of fights start standing up. Stand up is a necessity in fighting, and maia was scared to try and stand up at all with silva. He should be criticized for not wanting to fight. For me it is more respectful to be like Forest, and get knocked out early by trying to come at silva. If he would have fought as cautiously as maia, he would have just been clowned and lost by decision as well. Also maia needs to quit the bull**** lying on his back in guard hoping anderson will come in. It’s stupid to even think andersoon should do that.

  43. Silvas on April 11th, 2010 8:54 pm

Silva is a little prick just for spite they should have given the win to maia. It got to the point where i didnt even want to watch the fight becasue Silva was being a little ***ch. Running around in a god damn circle for more than 4 mins. That is ridiculous right there, in fact I wish Maia knocked his ass out I would have loved to see him drop. Oh well now it is up to GSP who will most definetly kill Silva. I am basing this off of his fight against Henderson. Once Silva was on his back he started losing misreably and with GSP a master of the takedown this would be very interesting.

  44. sdg thankyou on April 11th, 2010 9:13 pm

sdg thank you Anderson Silva is a ****ng god in MMA….Matt ur a dumbass ur saying that Anderson Silva has never fought anybody…hes fought a ****load of tough ppl…look at *****ng Forrest Griffen one of the top ranked Light Hevayweight fighters.

  45. joel on April 11th, 2010 9:31 pm

Anderson Silva is washed up the sooner you all realize that the better. He has no ground game at all and his stand up has taken a turn for the worst. I think its funny how you all are defending him, he had a few good fights against average fighters but nothing compared to the best pound for pound fighter in the world FEDOR! Silva on paper might be ranked in the top 3 but in reality he is proble ranked in the top 15 at this point in his career if that. Hes old as hell and needs to retire, he has no game, no respect and nothing going for him. He is a cheat, a liar and a good for nothing fighter. Fedor is the best and anyone who says otherwise is a noob, Fedor’s record speaks for itself poeple. The worst fighter Fedor has beaten is better then the best fighter Silva has beaten that is a fact.

  46. cburlen on April 11th, 2010 9:35 pm

silva is gonna kill GSP, im a big GSP an silva fan but silva could act the same way he did to maia and still beat GSP.. He is just to good

  47. joel on April 11th, 2010 9:36 pm

PS- If Anderson is so good then why couldent he knock out a fighter with no STAND UP??!! UFC is a white man’s sport and poeple like Silva who have no class and zero talent are ruining it. He does not BELONG IN IT. He needs to be shipped back to the jungle were he belongs. just goes to show you. Silva has nothing going for him compared to FEDOR. FEDOR IS GOD ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS A NOOB AND DUMBASS.

  48. LG on April 11th, 2010 9:42 pm

Ok looking at what some people are makes me sick!!! Silva is the best fighter in the world if dana wants to ***** about how he fights he should get in the ring with him. obviously Maia wanted no part of him, we should all be mad at him just standing back like a ****y but just to be honest who would want to stand against him? Gsp? haha i doubt it that would be a joke fight to just like Forrest. There is no one that can match silva enough said!

  49. cd on April 11th, 2010 10:21 pm

Anderson silva vs dana white (the biggest talker of all)

  50. gman122 on April 11th, 2010 10:34 pm

please ufc get dan henderson back. I’d like to see silva try that sh*t against him. If AS dropped his hands to be a c**k Hendo’s right hand would put him in another world

  51. ..!. on April 11th, 2010 11:23 pm

I love how all of you guys are shooting on Silva when as if right now in the UFC he is 13-0..Nobody has even came close to proving why he shouldnt be the UFC Champion…F*** all of you.

  52. xbot on April 11th, 2010 11:55 pm

silva realized he’d been disrespectful and decided not to finish maia off… you guys are stupid!

  53. brian on April 12th, 2010 12:16 am

screw this he was being disrespectful so i didnt knock him out s*** personally i would have knocked the s*** out of him for being disrespectful, dont dance around for 25 min. and not do anything thats just ridiculous

  54. nelly on April 12th, 2010 12:34 am

    @gman
Too bad Hendo already got beat by Silva. Silva wouldn’t mess around with him, considering the fact that he lost the 1st round against Dan. He spent like 4 minutes on the ground with Hendo on top of him and still didn’t lose.

    @joel
Dude ur just racist so STFU. He didn’t want to KO Maia ***.

  55. alex on April 12th, 2010 12:49 am

matt ur probably one of those guys that doesnt know what technique it actually takes to fight, u think that the only good fight is the one that has a flurry of punches and alot of blood, how about u u learn about the sport and look at the skill it takes to do it, u should go watch WWE cuz u cant handle mma, and anderson silva is a great fighter so get it straight

  56. jared foster on April 12th, 2010 2:34 am

Boring fight………….Anderson think he was so good…jst over confident…..

i wasn’t inspecting that silva fight like that……i knw hes kind a good and i was inspecting for a knockout or tapout.,but didn’t happen…..so rght now silva suck!!!!!!!!!

  57. jack farmar on April 12th, 2010 2:37 am

i give props to damian to that fight……….Silva hellsssss noooo…..BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Silva fight Munoz if u think u have the gots brehhhhhhhhh!!!!!

    “be the best man win”…..

  58. John on April 12th, 2010 3:00 am

    @joel

LMAO!!!!! Dude, I think you meant NASCAR as being a White Man’s sport. LMAO!!!!

The fact that even someone that’s obviously a racist ( a restarted one at that ) would make a comment like that just shows really how stupid you are because where do you think all those martial arts skills that most of the white athletes in MMA study come from?

FEDOR ( whom some of you guys like to use as tool for your little race war in this sport ) studies Judo & Sambo which both styles originated in Japan – an non-white society – just in case you didn’t know before :)

People like joel here are prime examples of how pride & ignorance can really reduce your I.Q.

  59. Sam on April 12th, 2010 3:08 am

If Maia is so weak, then Silva should have finished him like a true champion instead of dancing around and disresepcting him. Silva enters the octagon bowing to Maia and the crowd as if he’s the humblest of champions, and then he turns into a big showboat who never follows through. Again, Silva refuses to engage on the ground, showing that he’s probably not as well rounded or confident as he’s made out to be. Not willing to take risks, unable to finish lame opponents, not a champion.

  60. arama on April 12th, 2010 5:31 am

seriously i think anderson can finish he could pick a round to finish any fighter in or out of his weight
he probly wants a long carrer and thinks the same of his opponents also its a job to them if they cant fight they wont get paid for fedor his only lost in mma was a nc he got elbowed and didnt stop bleeding in a fight that didnt allow elbows hes great but to be the best ever you have to beat the best in the world not second rate fighters like rogers he needs to fight in the ufc to really go down as best pound for pound fighter in the world

  61. j murray on April 12th, 2010 5:43 am

Silva does not **** he just has no respect for his oppentent, could he have finished it??? i believe yes, did he? no he just played with him. There was nothing Maia could have done what so ever to win that fight, No one has ever come close to beating him. So what if he does not finish? The challenger needs to at least do something offensive once an ahwile not roll over like a dog who wants a belly rub. Fedor is a ***** and he fights no one but **** fighters who are washed up. And heres another thing if Silva sucks so bad why are all his oppentents unable to beat him>

  62. John on April 12th, 2010 6:01 am

I read all the posts and many of you make some great comments. However, the fact remains that Silva won. He won by judges’ decision. Regardless of how he won…HE WON. Don’t like the idea of a judges’ decision, then you should blame UFC. It may be cowardess or unsportsmanlike to some of you, but he protected himself, taunted the player (psychological strategy in fighting), and did what it took to win. Why should he risk a lucky punch by Maia, if the win is in the bag? If Dana and the spectators do not like it, THEY should have found a better opponent! THIS IS UFC’s FAULT! I think Silva was kind to Maia. He gave him ample time and the possibility to show that he is capable at this level of fighting. Some of you should understand that a win is a win. KOs may gain more respect, but a win is a win. He played the game by the rules that have been set. I respect that he won and protected himself. I respect it even more that he didn’t badly injure or ruin Maia’s career. I bet he went home and loved the fact that he got paid and didn’t have to use a pain killer to get to sleep. GREAT JOB SILVA!!!

  63. joel on April 12th, 2010 6:24 am

Silva won far and sqaure but he did not live up to his reputation in the eyes of many as the best pound for pound fighter. If you want to see the best at his best, watch the franklin, hendo or griffin fights. It is clear Silva did not take Maia serously and it showed. He needs a challage to shine. Move him up to light heavyweight and you will see the king come out. Fedor Sucks and GSP is not better then Silva get that through your guys heads.

  64. joel on April 12th, 2010 6:28 am

For me Silva is the greatest!!!!! Even though he did not finished the fight against Maia… I think the reason why he did not finished Maia because he respect his fellow Brazilian… That’s what i think.

  66. Cassio on April 12th, 2010 8:46 am

No question that Anderson is the best fighter in UFC and it was pretty clear he was really bored as he saw Demian was no stading up and always trying the same tricks. Dana needs to come up with some real challenges to Silva and not just keep trying to test him, he already showed to UFC he can beat any fighter (I mean any!!!!)
Sem dúvida são lutas arranjadas e chega uma hora que enche o saco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  67. EliVerra on April 12th, 2010 11:47 am

ok 1. Damian Mia had no business fighting in the main event. 2 I think the Anderson Silva only finishes fighters he respects. And you have to remember this. Anderson is a counter fighter.
He waits for the other person to engage and then he puts them out. Mia was a scared little ****. he never engaged in the stand up. he got hit wth one punch and the roll on his ass and lay on his back. Anderson isn’t going to go to the ground with him. would you? And Mia couldn’t take him there either. I wanna see Anderson and Vitor, or GSP. not some ******** that is waiting to roll around on the ground with him. It isn’t going to happen. The matchmakers in the UFC need to pair him up with a good striker and grappler. not just a grappler. you would think they learned that from the Laitus fight.

  68. jmspb on April 12th, 2010 12:02 pm

I think Silva either got hurt or gassed out. There was an instance in the 3rd round where Maia threw a hail Mary shot that landed on Silva’s chin and Silva just backed up after that punch the rest of the round…I’m sure most of you saw this but the commentators didn’t even mention that. But it’s possible. Even Silva said he was surprised by Maia’s stand-up. Rogan also mentioned that it was possible that Silva somehow gassed out and he didn’t want to show it that’s why he didn’t engage. Coming from a veteran host, that should merit for something. Again, it’s possible. Finally, regarding the part where Silva said he should show more humility, he was obviously referring to the first 3 rounds where he COULD have finished Maia but decided he wanted to look pretty first, after the 3rd round, he obviously couldn’t do what he could have done in the first 3 rounds maybe because either he got hurt or he gassed out. That’s my opinion.

  69. steve on April 12th, 2010 1:08 pm

fedor is no good he has never fought anyone with credentials sure in pride he was decent but he can be beat and so can anderson he is just a flashy fighter and if you bring it to him he will have no choice and leave his chin open everyone can be beat its just when is the right moment all the champions are not good champions to flashy and they just know how to win rounds show me the last time you have seen a champ knock someone out good or a good 5 rounds this sport is nothing how it used to be

  72. dede on April 12th, 2010 5:46 pm

there is no way anderson beat GSP at 170 no way they should fight at 175 catch weight that would give Anderson silva a way way better chance

ok every one look i know youre opinions. anderson won even though he did mockingly he was still the better fighter lets not diss any mma event as long as i see a good rumble by the doctor stoppage is still a loss so fedor lost plus its in fighters benefit and he got him back so please as true fans we should not bad talk a fighter i learned the hard way i respects every mma event.

  74. keegan on April 12th, 2010 6:02 pm

look guys true mma fans dont bad mouth any event anderson was the better fighter no matter how bad it was.and a doctor stoppage is still a loss so fedor lost so what. as good as hes doing he left that behind him who cares what organization it is as long as i get to see a ass whoppen or the heart of lasting to a descion. now the a good fight would be lesnar vs emelinko no bad mouthen statscal opinions

  75. Filiger on April 12th, 2010 6:22 pm

I’ve lost soooo much respect for anderson silva. It’s already an honor to fight in a stadium in a different country but he was just full of himself. and he disrespected all the fans with a half assed fight. He didn’t even respect the person he was fight. He knew he clearly outclassed him at least give him the respect for facing him. No need to taunt a person for not being good enough. Makes me so sad seeing a person with so much talent get so bored with his fight, and so full of himself. He needs to lose a fight to regain that passion again.

A fight with GSP all the way man.

  76. UFCfault on April 12th, 2010 11:35 pm

First of all why was this match up scheduled to begin with? If everyone knew it was such a mismatch it should have been cancelled. Sure Silva is an ass and clearly out classed this opponent. Dana White knew this before the fight. Basically they screwed over anyone who paid to see the fight. Would love to see GSP fight Silva…….

  77. Nelson on April 13th, 2010 2:40 am

Obviously every fan would want a GSP VS Silva fight because they have nothing to lose but frankly, win or lose, Silva doesn’t deserve that fight. Superfights are for two great and honorable fighters that represent what UFC is all about. I know that Silva would take on GSP seriously, with full respect, but he should treat every fighter like that and go for the KO. I love Silva and he’s the greatest fighter right now but he should get his act together.

Maia, well, after the 3rd round you knew that you lost so you should of went in guns-a-blazing. This fight never should of happened. Same situation with Forrest’s fight but Forrest knew that he was losing and went in with confidence and heart, like he does in every fight, and humbly lost. That’s mutual respect between the two.

Conclusion: Set up the Belfort fight again and see what happens. Obviously Silva won’t take him lightly. Set up one more fight with a 1st class fighter, not some 2nd rate like Chael. If he displays the explosive Silva we all knew in both those fight then GSP VS Silva all the way.

  78. DPQ on April 13th, 2010 4:34 am

Before the Silva vs Maia fight I had a strong idea that Silva would dominate GSP. But after seeing how Maia –who is NOT a striker– hit Silva hard and often enough to make him stop fighting, and run around the octagon for the 4th and 5th rounds I now think that if GSP can weather the early storm and put his hands on Silva’s face, Silva will lose to GSP. St. Pierre is, in my opinion, the best fighter pound for pound. The Silva/GSP fight can go either way, but I now believe Silva can’t take a punch. Maia took his will to fight… imagine what GSP will do to him.

Either way, I can’t wait to see that one.

  79. Chris on April 13th, 2010 6:47 am

What we saw here was simply a huge difference in class, Anderson simply played with him the whole match, making the point of mocking Macheda using his stance alot of the time.

Whether you like him or not you have to realise that fighters like this dont come around often, especially in a wrestling based event like the UFC.

I would much rather see him deal with Macheda before GSP.

wow…i dont even know where to begin, alot of the posts on this website are just ***ed…you people really dont think anderson silva could finish maia? so in your minds maia is better then franklin, hendo, forrest? duh guys duh, silva just didnt want to finish him, he didnt feel challenged, so instead he played with him, i mean the guy gets to fight like every 5 months, why not have fun and make it last :p nah idk why he didnt finish him but he obviously could of, dont hate just because the guy is so good he can do as he pleases, and how come every discussion about anderson silva becomes a debate between him and fedor, both are awesome as ****

  82. zc on April 13th, 2010 7:17 pm

ya nate getting a cut on your forehead and having the fight stopped. means you just got your ass handed to you. and either you can’t spell or don’t speak english because i can’t read half your bull****. fedor is good but i guarantee would get ko’d by carwin. guarantee it. People have to remember the guys like chuck, randy, and tito. chuck: hall of famer. randy: hall of famer. and tito: longest reigning ufc light heavyweight champ in history and soon to be a hall of famer. remember good good people like that.

It becomes a discussion b/w GSP against Silva not Fedor.
    @DPQ
Believing that “The Spider” can’t take a punch is like saying GSP could of survived against Serra in their 1st fight. I don’t care if its the greatest upset in the world or ppl saying that it was a lucky punch. Watch the fight and see that GSP had like 5 chances to survive but didn’t. The very same thing happened against Matt Hughes and I actually believed that Serra was going to end it but Hughes survived. Instead of running GSP should of went into the clinch like Hughes and survive. Don’t care that GSP beat Hughes 2x.
But still looking at how Silva dominates every fight is too convincing that he will win. Everyone agrees that Silva wins in the stand up and saying that if it goes to the ground GSP would win. Hendo fought and beat Silva on the ground for about 4 mins in round1 and that didn’t even slow him down. GSP said that he tried his very best and was disappointed that he couldn’t end Hardy. Now picture Hardy and Silva, what round would it end in if Silva fought like he did against Franklin.
    @Chris
Get your facts together. He was mocking Machida? Are you ****ing ***ed. Both of them are in the same team, Black House, and are fellow training partners. They will NEVER fight each other.

what a waste of time. i have lost a lot of respect for anderson after this, he is the best but he should never disrespect any fighter like this. to defend maia, its very hard to fight someone who doesnt want to fight. the only thing i can say to justify anderson, is that maybe this fight was a statement he made saying that he wants to fight GSP and a message to Dana White to stop sending him fighters who are not at his level.

  91. regginvonblackenstein on April 15th, 2010 2:35 am

  97. selah on April 15th, 2010 8:47 pm

Wow :( I didn’t think it was a big deal until I watched it…there is honor in fighting…I realize that now because of how Silva dishonored Maia. He should’ve been merciful and just knocked the guy out instead of putting Maia’s inadequacy on display in front of the whole world. Choosing to punish him mentally and physically through every round. It would have been nice just to put him out of his misery. I felt bad for him. It’s just a sport, but it seemed personal in the moment, Silva seemed like he wanted to terrorize the poor guy…and I actually like Silva…yet and still that was not cool at all. Bump the fans…have a heart…that was overkill

  98. dre on April 16th, 2010 1:19 am

I dont think Anderson was tired cause even late in the fight he was still dodging Maia’s punches like the fight just started…But the show that was displayed was entertaining for the most part. Part of me also thinks that Anderson was be cautious(a little tooo cautious if u ask me), he knew he had already won the fight plus if he kept the fight standing Maia would be no match for him and that would elevate any chance of any type of injury for the GSP fight. I think it was a total strategic planning on his camps part.

The way Anderson acted this fight was just horrifying, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t take a fight seriously, even if you are this good you should at LEAST give your opponent a good respectful fight, something Anderson did not do obviously, while you can blame Maia for not going for it `cause he was the challenger I would have been one of the many true MMA fans in that crowd screaming at the top of my lungs for Maia to knock Anderson out(Yeah right.), `cause Anderson just made a fool of himself, and a mockery of all things related to MMA, this performance disrespectful and no reason for it, even if you can make a show like this you’re really just making an ass out of yourself.

Sorry for all the fans who find this offensive but I really did lose my respect for Anderson here.

idc what people have to say about anderson silva but there is a reason he has the belt right now and there is a reason he is keeping it. Not every fight is going to be a good fight to watch but the things he has done in the past people want to see what he is going to do next. Anderson Silva is UFC. He is the greatest all around fighter ever to be in this sport. It might just be my opinion but there is nobody that has beat him yet in the UFC and until that day which there isnt going to be that day ill say that silva isnt the best fighter. but forrest griffin got his ass kicked by Anderson Silva haha.

I can’t understand the ppl who are saying Silva sucks, and that he was backing off after Maia hit him in the third. Silva had control, he was just showing it to the world that he could do it.. I don’t know any fighter who would be able to do it like he did.

Even though I know he could’ve made a greater show, I respect him more for not caring about the criticism but instead he was prooving his point.

  109. Gjitsu on April 19th, 2010 8:51 am

hey kit you said about fedor dodging the real fighters. little misunderstanding fedor has beat some of the best in the world and the only reason he does not come to the ufc is he doesnt want to be tied down to the ufc see once under contract with the ufc you can not fight any where else until your contract is up. fedor takes pride in his country and fights in a tournament there not sure what it is called. but fedor is a fighters fighter. he fights everywhere and anyone why because he is not tied down to any one company this is the reason he fights for strikeforce no strings this is why he is able to fight in pride no strings. as far as Silva i think he is bad for the sport no one wants to see boring fights especially if your a champ. if your a champ act like a champ and prove why your the best…. what silvas a black belt in jitsu? really? looked to me like he was scared to get on the ground with maia. but i thought hes ther best p4p all around fighter? why no have silva who probaly walks around at 215- 225 why not him and carwin at catch weight? or Nog,mir, or someone at a lower heavyweight weight i would say lesnar but he could never cut down to 225. everyone wants to see him drop down to fight gsp i rather see him go up and test his strenght against the bigger boys insted of acting like a ****y ass bastard who shows no respect to anyone by the flashy dancing and the poor excuse of fighting display.

think that was the worst fight in the history of UFC, I really was a fan of Anderson Silva, but after that he became more cardboard one that just wants to come and make money on the sport, I think he should review the their concepts of fighter and even more so as man, because this attitude was not so, the Maya also had its share of blame on that stage,,, not demonstrated any knowledge of martial varieties,,, It is ai alert!, Anderson Silva and More in the audience want to see and enjoy UFC fighter inside and outside the rings, will you guys can offer high-level responses?

everyone talks about how anderson silva sucked in the fight because he didnt finish mia but what real man or martial artist wants to beat the crap out of someone so inferior? anderson was fooling arround to entertain himself because mia certainly wasnt bringing anything to the table same as that fool thales leites who kept laying on his back so he wouldnt have so far to fall down.Stop blameing the fighter and blame the matchups its like saying that anderson should have to start the fight laying on his back in order to give these useless tits a chance. Also as a Canadian i can honestly say that GSP hasnt had many interesting fights since he has become champion, the whole idea of fighting is to hit and not get hit this isnt the wwf. mia shouldnt even have been in there.Bones jones would make and interesting fight but hes not quite ready yet.Another thing ” he didnt do anything?? look at maias face and shorts he obviously didnt have to do too much.

Silva did what anyone would do. He stayed in his element, you dont fight a wrestler or a BJJ fighter on the ground and you try to take a striker to the ground. im glad everyone decided to talk it over in a nice humane way. Some suggestions for the near future…if you don’t agree with what someone says, just start a facebook fight about the issue at hand. Then you can decide for yourself on how important the issue is, based on the positive feedback. Another thing, the racist comments need to be kept on the DL. Everyone deserves an equal chance at any sport, whether they are black, white, or south american. As a last point, i want to put out a note of appreciation for the people who posted their comments in their native tongue. Although most of us don’t know what they are saying, they looked beyond the language barrier to let others know how they feel. Way to go for the gold fellas.

I laughed my ass of so hard while watching this grueling fight that of course Anderson would win. This was so damn funny. People need to forget about “respect” because in my book. Anderson gave him many chances for Maia to fight but he never got a chance because no one in UFC can handle in the weight classes that are available to him. This was nothing more than a comedy show in which Maia was the hand puppet and Anderson Silva was the arm that controlled him.

To the Brazilian fans! – Congrats for having the best fighter (and fighters) of all-time.

Dana little infant White is want to turn the UFC into a modern day of Roman Collisium. Talk about casting sheep to the wolves. Why the heck do people want to watch one man bloodied by another way too superior than him. Maybe Silva is a man of principle, he hates Dana’s idiotic ways to make money. Find him a stronger fighter once and for all. Stop brining these minnows as challengers to make money.

i’m with silva on this one!! i think there is clear difference between holding a belt and fighting for one. on the road up i think a fighter brings the fight, not only to win but in order for division to take note of him/her, the promoter to take note and fans! once you have the belt and have held on to it as long as silva has, I think it’s the job of the challenger to do his home work and take the belt. If he wants to win the belt by not commiting then why should silva? i think out of the two silva has more of right to fight in this way which they were both guilty of…the fact of the matter is maia fought his way to a title fight only to come out of there wid a battered face, he can’t say he tried his best. silva walks out wid his pay cheque n belt!!!! the next guy to fighter to fight silva should work on some footwork n pressure fighting to find a way in, n make history and show silva and the likes of that fool machida that dancing around don’t always work. that’s why i love the way rua fights. got pressure fighting nailed! hendrson too. solid chins, always bring it and exciting. machida and anderson silva suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Jimmy the cat….your a dumb ***. “Americans” has nothing to do with it. People are people, there are some morons out there that are violent or just want to sound tough and there are some that have respect. Just like there are dumbasses that like to talk **** and blame it on some label like ‘Americans” and there are some that recognize that it people in general. Stand up so you can get some fresh air to where you keep your head man.

Now as far as this fight goes I hate Silva now. What a ****y pri*k. I hate showboating.

  131. p-dub on April 30th, 2010 6:21 pm

seriously everybody whose saying silva sucks don’t know nothing about fighting maia’s a brazilian jiu jitsu black belt an silva knew to be patient an not push the fight cause one clinch or even one punch could lead to a takedown where maia could have submitted him although in the 3rd silva could have ended by why even force it when he knew he was easily winning the cards on another note bj penn got screwed he whooped edgar like a school girl i predict he ko’s edgar in 2 rounds in the rematch

  132. Palmer on April 30th, 2010 11:42 pm

Silva could be the best but he is a punk and if machida move down he would drop his little spidery as*. wat a bunch of ranting brain deads ? hard **** anderson shown the **** just how good he is & maia definately isnt . he was out to ridicule him -yes at the expense of paying fans of the sport but thats part of the gamble when you pay to watch or see a fight live .just using his basic mauy thai skills he totally out foxed maia ,total ridicule . i have to admit at first viewing i thought ??? what the fuk is this ? but upon my second viewing i could only but smile at silvas genius.Remember we have very high expectations of some one as good as silva but some timres shpfloor politics procede over all ie respect towards each other ,silva felt he had been disrespected by maia so he did the same to him in the cage where actions speak louder than words ? and then he just paddy wacked him if you understand the term used///////? ok he **** slapped him …….good bye all ps keep race issues out ,mma is this good and evolving at a fast pace because its multi cultuered.peace to you all sos bout the spelling/

look those mma fans that badmouthin dont have any disciplin. as for silva… silva didnt ko maia because he doesnt want… maia is bj fighter, he is not balance. and for the white people… Asians,Africans,Brazilian, Have their own martial Arts. The white man was lucky tht bruce lee taught them the secret of martial arts… so u can learn afriaca’s original martial arts is kempo… and matt kill yourself man… u dont deserve to mma

  135. Thunderfoot on May 13th, 2010 3:33 pm

I like how Silva fights, uses technique rather than ‘Rock em Sock em’ style. UFC is the pinnacle of MMA. It should mean that technique and skill/martial art rules over the ’stand and trade style of fighting. MMA being a such a tough sport, fighters train for years to get the fitness, skill and ability to reach this level take more dedication than most of us can offer. Therefore I think in this fight the person who will be most disappointed will be Maia. For the 1st 3 rounds he was competely outclassed standing up, couldn’t take it down to the mat and it looked to me was scared of commiting.. Scared of ending up on a highlight reel like some of the other Silva opponents. the reality is that he gave the fight away by not fighting so I guess it’ll be Maia loosing sleep over the performance, with dented pride and not performing AT ALL, not Silva. In the Gym, when you spar, someone takes the p@ss like that you HAVE to retaliate, so at this high level i’m amazed that it took 4 rounds for Maia to think ‘Oh F@ck it!!’ and start swingin. I agree Silva should have finished him though but, maybe he just wanted the workout before GSP. Any way, he’s taking his check and a ring girl and laughing all the way…Funny

  136. mE on May 25th, 2010 6:22 pm

Compare anderson silva fight with nate is jus dumb. Demian take a huge mistake, Nate realised that and reacted almost instantly resulting in s knock out resulting on maia first defeat! Maia later understood where he gone wrong, correct the mistake and gonne further try to see where forrest went wrong.. so silva could not have his supreme advantage.

im a big fan of anderson silva, i think he’s the best fighter in the world, but honestly i was upset with this fight. at the very end just running around. i got respect for DEMIAN, eventhough he lost, i think he gave a really great fight… my respect for you DEMIAN!!

  140. A.S is the best on June 24th, 2010 7:49 pm

First of all..Matt masturbates on his mothers face…and Anderson Silva is definitely the best. his skills are out of this world. all silva fans know he couldve finished maia easily without even trying. yes he shouldve knocked maia out but think of it…maybe he wanted to lose the belt so he could have motivation to get it again. he could beat anyone in welterweight, middlewieght, and light heavyweight, so whoever he goes against in those wieght classes wouldnt have a chance. he has never ever ever been knocked out his 4 losses were by submission and they werent even in the ufc. For people who hardly know him you probably havent see much of ufc but he is undefeated IN the ufc and has had over 10 fights in the octogon. He will always be great and could beat anyone he faces so all haters can grow a d*** bigger than 2 inches then get a cat to eat s*** it out then eat the cats crap and s*** it out also and then eat it again

  141. kendo on June 25th, 2010 8:00 pm

That fight was an abortion and disrespectful to the sport. I thought this was Ultimate Fighting Championship. It looked like Ultimate Dancing Championship. All you Silva fans are proud of that display?

  142. Slomo Cameron on June 27th, 2010 10:33 pm

Just want to say what I think was happening in Silva-Maia. Agree or disagree with the idea. I happen to think it was brilliant (at first). Silva was not being particularly disrespectful to anyone, not even to Maia. Maia was perceived as one-dimensional, and Silva was demonstrating that. Check old (YouTube) videos of Silva training, in ground fighting, imitating other fighters and even performing dance of all kinds at an extremely high level. A level of dedication more akin to the old Shaolin monks & monasteries.

See a replay of the fight again on DVD. Between one of the middle rounds Silva drinks down an entire bottle of water, voraciously. I think he overspent himself outdoors in the extremely hot desert by round 3, and was simply dazed rounds 4 and 5. As simple as that. In England or Canada those champion rounds would have been different. Maia did far better those rounds because of that fatigue. Silva did not knock out Maia rounds 1 and 2, because he wanted to instruct him, teach him, and test him. Would Maia step up to the occasion?

A YouTube video interview (in Portuguese), he is being asked about retirement. Silva says his time is already over (and that was a few years ago), he and others should train the new generation. He was trying to show the next generation in this fight to always be multidimensional.

Maia in the early rounds should have taken a deep breath, squared his shoulders and stepped forward unarmed to try to slay the dragon. I think he is an excellent fighter, and still evolving and developing, however the first few rounds he should have accepted the challenge at face value. He didn’t.

One time in the early rounds, Silva stuffed a Maia takedown attempt, back and on an angle. Maia had no way to keep him down that way. By this it was evident Silva trained seriously for the fight, and was fully prepared for any eventuality.

The first three rounds, Maia behaved exactly as Silva expected him to. He waited for Silva to approach him, so he could lie down. It’s a little bit too one-dimensional, for future generations of up-and-coming fighters to be inspired by.

I think the UFC is a good organization, however Silva at 185 should have far more aggressive challengers, with ground experience. Not that this one should be the exact matchup, but someone with the approach of Jason MacDonald, actually taller than Silva, good chin, great ground fighting, and very aggressive. There are fighters of this kind that (frankly) Silva would still defeat, but they would actually be treated as matchups by Silva, instead of “school classes” like this one was.

  143. insomniatric on June 29th, 2010 6:18 am

    You Silva haters are ***ed.

I don’t get why people say the entire fight was nothing but Silva running from Maia. It was quite the opposite.

Anderson Silva is a COUNTER STRIKER, it’s not his style to be aggressive and attack. He likes to counter. I think he was taunting Demian Maia so that Maia would attack him. But Maia never did. He loves it when fighters are aggressive with him. Because when they are, you get fights like Silva vs Griffin or Silva vs Leben.

It’s not his fault because of this fight. That was a terrible matchup. You put an excellent BJJ guy with mediocre (at best) striking skills who is afraid to engage against a dominant counter striker like Silva, and what kind of fight do you expect?

Silva is the greatest fighter on the planet.

  144. SpiderSilva94 on July 7th, 2010 9:32 pm

And matt, saying Anderson Silva sucks is unacceptable. I don’t care if you don’t like him, he doesn’t suck. He’s the most dominant fighter in UFC History (11 consecutive wins, and undefeated in the octagon), and the UFC is home to the best fighters on the planet.

Everybody he’s fought has never been beat to the level that he beat them in the UFC. He embarrasses the people he fights. Nobody else has as many dominant wins as him. Forrest Griffin raised his arms to let him know that he had enough. Forrest Griffin is known for his amazing toughness (he KO’d a dude while he had a broken arm), and was much bigger than Anderson. Anderson knocked him out with a backpedaling jab. That says something.

Demian Maia went to decision with him because Silva CHOSE not to end the fight. He could have ended it at any moment of his choosing. He rocked him every time he touched him. He was trying to show why you shouldn’t match him up against guys with no striking ability. Nobody’s ever embarrassed Maia like that. And saying Nate KO’d Maia is stupid, because Silva TKO’d Nate. Nate (who is renowned for his BJJ), took Anderson Silva down and tried to submit him, but he never came close. When they got up, he tried to get a single-leg takedown, but Silva quickly turned it around and got a single-leg takedown on Nate (it was impressive) and got a TKO victory, in the first round.

He nearly became the first man to KO Dan Henderson (that says a LOT about his power, Hendo’s got a granite chin), he floored him with punches, then got a RNC. He was the 3rd man to submit Hendo. The first 2 were the men who trained Anderson in BJJ, the Nogueira brothers. And he was the first and still the only man to every KO Chris Leben, who has an amazing chin as well.

He also threw a bigger fighter in Rich Franklin around like a little child (Franklin actually said that he felt like a child being thrown around) in their rematch. So you know he’s strong as hell. Rich Franklin dominated the middleweight division until he met Anderson.

You might not like Anderson, but saying he sucks is just ignorant. He completely destroyed a man who was known for his striking (Lee Murray). He’s an EXCELLENT fighter.

  148. jimbo slice on August 7th, 2010 1:09 pm

what wrestlers has silva fought? none, which is why chael sonnen is gonna kick his ass. GSP should be the pound for pound best in the world. Brock Lesnar is officialy the best heavyweight in the world. Fedor Emilianenko has officialy lost. Until Anderson Proves his wrestling to the MMA fans i realy wouldnt class him as the pound for pound best.

  149. slivaisthebest on August 8th, 2010 12:03 am

I’m brazilian and think that “Spider” fights very well, but the behaviour of showing no respect for another fighter shows he’s not a real champion. It was unnecessary, reprovable and unprofessional.
