Wow, never new about this. Thanks!

Wow. Silva is a monster. This is a great win for him and the UFC because now they’ve got some really huge potential matchups in the future with Silva at light heavyweight. Silvs vs Silva? Silva vs Liddel? Silva vs Jackson? I can’t wait.

    iceman888srf:

    1. Punctuation rules!!!
    2. Breaking ideas into sentences. Sure, it’s old school, but it’s also understandable.
    3. Silva has lost before, it’s been shown that he can loose. Why do you need him to loose again now?

silva is beatable, but obviously a fighter will have to fight his best fight of his life. just looking at the replay, silva’s reflex’s is super quick, being able to catch a kick like that easily and give a KO punch with his right hand, keep in mind he’s a lefty. great win for anderson. i feel bad for irvin, should’ve stopped it earlier, that’ll prevent that huge cut under his eye. maybe bring back the one hit wonder ryo chonan to leg scissor silva again

  6. mattyb on July 20th, 2008 2:48 am

its like he’s got somthing else in his hands! amazing!

THE PUNCH WAS ALL ARM AND FIST, no hip or body.

If i saw that off some huge dude (100kg maybe) I could comprehend it… but if you stood me next to Silva on the street it would look like a good fight (to the naked eye).

The dude is blessed with something else….?

  7. Chris on July 20th, 2008 3:50 am

    “…his precision is…precise…”

  8. mma_enthusiast on July 20th, 2008 4:22 am

I was also surprised that Irvin was so rocked from that punch. Silva didn’t get to step in to it, he was just standing flat footed holding Irvin’s leg, then bam a straight right. I guess it was more that the punch was so unexpected.

  9. Big E on July 20th, 2008 4:32 am

WTF was Irvin doing in there besides pissing his shorts??? At least he was smart enough to stay down!!

Id love to see Silva just stay at 205 now.

He carried the weight well, makes me think he’s one of those rare cases of people who can drop weight and fight and not loss their strength, when he is fighting 185lbs. I used to box and frankly, I walk around at 172 but if i got anywhere near 159 I became a weakling, anyone could take me, i just had no strength if i lost too much weight. Seriously, he walks around at 215 is that what they said? amazing, great fighter.

    Silva did a show AGAIN!

    thanks for the vid.

    from a international friend

it was a great punch right on his upper lip…. only thing I’d like to see is irvin face him and try to get him in a guard…. he left his shoulder high so anderson could vault off it.

I am impressed by Silva. The man is also very humble after the fight. And that what took me becoming his fan from now. Great fight Silva thank you

I like how Silva caught his leg and punched him in his face. That’s how fight scenes are in the movies.

  20. mike on July 21st, 2008 11:10 pm

man… irvin with all the talk about how he wasnt gonna be another highlight reel for anderson silva..well now you are…lol…..

but seriously put silva up against a true LH fighter(come on irvin got no skills really) and lets see how he does

  21. NLBD on July 22nd, 2008 1:41 am

I will love to see Anderson fight Forrest, that will be super fun and UFC will lost the title to another non-white non-american.

  22. Johnson on July 22nd, 2008 8:54 am

One thing that amazes me about Anderson Silva is how punches that seem to have no momentum and come from weird angles HURT like HELL.

His strikes seem to have metal weights attached or something, cause people he punches just DROP like dead weight.

He’s really something else. Fedor vs. Spider would be nice although fedor would obviously have the advantage on the ground with the weight difference.

  23. aunt gimyma on July 22nd, 2008 5:01 pm

yo james irvin can suck it on my ball sack!!!!!!

    long live anderson silva!!!

  24. footfwwd on July 23rd, 2008 10:46 pm

Anderson and GSP are the future of the sport they are the pioneers, people like
Tito, Liddel, etc… can only fight strikers. It’s a new game, now you need the whole MMA package. I would love to see Forrest fight Anderson, mostly because Forrest works so hard and has been continually improving his skills. I’m not sure if he is at the Spiders level yet but i think it would be a great fight. Remember he beat Shogun.

  25. Aongie! on July 25th, 2008 6:28 am

Whoops! I forgot to say Anderson Silva vs Wanderlei Silva or Anderson Silva vs Lyoto Machida! both would be epic fights! Then if he does well Forret Griffin for the 205 title! He could be the Dan Henderson of UFC!

  26. scott on July 27th, 2008 5:37 pm

what song/artist did Silva walk to??

  27. scott on July 27th, 2008 5:40 pm

Does anyone know what song/artist Silva walked out to??

  28. rossta on July 27th, 2008 9:40 pm

Irvin finally got what was coming to him. The guy did not knock out Alexander. I recorded the fight and my friend, who is a MMA trainer, broke it down. Alexander never stopped blocking, except when he fell on his backside, Irvin missed both hits when he was down then the ref stopped it. Houston was on his feet in less than 3 seconds. So much for Irvin the ”best pound for pound fighter.” Irvin should rematch Houston and we will see him get knocked out like Houston did to Keith Jardine.

I find it kind of funny that Allen T. posted a comment griping about the proper use of the English language, while twice misspelling “lose”.

  36. Royce on August 13th, 2008 8:25 am

how come its just a bunch of random german soldiers dancing? I don’t get it..

  37. Vince on August 30th, 2008 3:17 pm

I forget who said it but Anderson isnt a lefty, He stands in southpaw to make his left hand more potent from the torque put into a cross, his main hand is his right. He just stands southpaw to make both hands powerful.
