Yes, Randleman did dominate the first 5 minutes, giving Bas some pretty bad punishment. Other than take downs though, what exactly did Randleman bring to the table.
“Takedowns?”
You can win a fight just by taking a guy down and lying on top of him. Randleman didn’t go for any submissions the whole fight, after the first 5 minutes he didn’t even really hit Bas at all either.
Bas was constantly moving, constantly working and striking from the bottom, and he was also delivering shots in the stand-up as well. Just as Bas stated in the post-fight interview.
If Randleman would have not gassed after five minutes and continued to G & P he would have won though.
BS. Bas was “sheduled” to win this fight. Even the commentator was biased from the start.
The commentator wasn’t biased, he just stated his opinion from Bas’s other fights, stated that he would probably come back stronger later in the fight.
Yeah, it was “scheduled” my ass. People really like getting their nos broken. You probably said that after Fedor subbed him after a suplex too. LOL
i think the decision was fair! Kevin dominated the first 5min than after that he jus kept taking Bas down and laying on him while Bas jus kept scoring points…great job Bas!

Randleman was lame after 5 mins. Bas was constantly working both on the standup (which he dominated) and the ground (which he again dominated). Kevin won on takedowns (but we all know that takedowns isnt enough for anything) and thats it. Pretty boring fight. Kevin didnt want to stand up cos he felt out of his depth. On the ground he done NOTHING.
Both of these guys would get killed in todays MMA but I still think Kevin was robbed. Look at the fighters face then tell me who landed the more effective blows.

This is yet another example of the UFC fixing a decision to ensure a pre determined conclusion is reached. And many posters on this site demonstrate their total wilingness to lose themselves in the throes of delusion as well. How can anyone say that Bas was effective at anything except holding down the mat with his ass? And how come Bas’s racoon face wasn’t factored into the judge’s scoring criteria? Ranbdleman better have received a massive pay day for this farce; Rutten is such an overhyped piece of garbage. No wonder he works well with Kimbo and that whole debacle.
Well if this fight took place now.. Randleman would have one hands down.. If I was Bas Rutten in that fight.. I would have said I didn’t win that fight… because he didn’t

In this match ,im realy like BAS,but Rendlman be beteer and judges some big mistake,Rendlman obiviusly be best in this match.

What a god-awful boring fight. Clearly Randleman dominated the fight, though.
Hell, after the first big flurry, Randleman did NOTHING but take Bas down . . . NOTHING. Bas did more damage from the bottom then the much bigger Randleman did from the top after the first 5 minutes or so. Five minutes of striking does not make a win—especially when the fight is 15 minutes with a couple of overtimes and you nothing after that but lay on someone. The decision was correct and fair. This “look at the damage on their faces” argument is a very poor and tired one. Sounds like Tank Abbott is behind some of these posts.

Of course bass’s face looks worse because hes a white guy……black guys dont show injurys as much. Bruses blend in with the skin colour. Quite a mud fight tho that black dude is just a wrestler not a striker like bass. Hes just heaver and alot younger. Im glad some one who can strike one and not just a big steriod junkie!!!!!!!
Judge’s made the right choice………….all that randlman did was tackle and then lay on bass in the missionary position…………boring stand up and fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bass got more better strikes in, Randl-man lover couldn’t dominate even on top!!!

For the people saying in todays MMA Bas would definitely win…sorry, but it TODAY’S MMA the fight would have been stopped within the first two minutes. Just food for thought.

I’m amazed they gave the win to Bas. Man, he literally spent 20 mn on his back, dominated by his opponent and got taken down numerous times + look at the damage to his face.
That’s the most controversial win I’ve ever seen in MMA, and that was for the title? What a SHAME!
bas is clearly a better fighter and deserved to win he would have won by a knockout if he were standing but instead he dominated from his back he stopped most of randys punches just took a couple the beggining haha watch how he just sits there on top while he gets his head punctured by bas’s elbows on the second video you can see how the blood appears where he gets hit bas only got punished at the beggining but he obviously can take it
Bas you are the most entertaining commentator out there i love you !…btu you lost this fight, forget alll the technicality stuff, i looked at the faces of the fighters and what happened during the fight, while bas was moving and striking , he did not land the significant blows of the fight. Kevin did…it is good in mma we dont need the judges, i dont have a vested interest in who won,…but ont his night kevin randleman was better than Bas and i will know that to be true forever.
