Anthony Perosh built capital with the UFC by being a johnny-on-spot fill in for the promotion at heavyweight back at UFC 110. It turns out that down at 205 pounds, his real weight class, he’s a pretty solid fighter.
Perosh ran a ground clinic on Cyrille Diabate in the second round and finished the fight via rear-naked choke at the 3:09 mark in bout No. 2 of the main card at UFC 138.
“My first (UFC) win was great but I needed to back it up and I’m delighted to have done so. I’ve trained in boxing for only one year but I have focused on it twice as much as anything else and it paid off,” said Perosh.
Perosh (12-6, 2-1 UFC) is a decorated jiu-jitsu fighter. The second-degree black belt stayed out of harm’s way against Diabate, a dangerous muay thai striker.
