Tito Ortiz vs. Antônio Rogério Nogueira UFC 140 Fight Video

At UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira defeated Tito Ortiz via ground and pound stoppage. The end came at 3:15 in round 1 after Lil’ Nog unleashed a series of elbows to Ortiz’s ribs. This Light Heavyweight fight was the third bout on the PPV card. This was Tito’s second loss since his upset victory over Ryan Bader this summer. Nogueira snaps a 2 fight losing streak here and improves his UFC record to 3-2.

This looked like it would be a battle of Ortiz’s ground and pound and wrestling vs. Nogueira’s boxing, and that is exactly how it played out. They started by exchanging on the feet, with Tito holding his own. But Nogueira clipped him with a right hand, then followed up with some nasty knees to the body that visibly hurt Ortiz and dropped him. On the ground, Nogueira maintained ground position and used elbows to Tito’s ribcage to get the stoppage. Immediately after the fight ended, it was clear that Nog’s body attack was seriously damaging, as Ortiz was in a lot of pain.

Claude Patrick vs. Brian Ebersole UFC 140 Fight Video

At UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida, Brian Ebersole barely squeaked by Claude Patrick to take a split decision victory. Judges’ scorecards had it 29-28, 29-28, and 28-29. This Welterweight fight was the 2nd on the PPV card, and was the only PPV fight to go the distance. Ebersole is now undefeated in the Octagon on a three fight win streak, while Patrick earns just the 2nd loss of his MMA career. He is now 14-2 overall, 3-1 in the UFC.

Krzysztof Soszynski vs Igor Pokrajac UFC 140 Fight Video

At UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida, Igor Pokrajac blitzed Krzysztof Soszynski, stopping the veteran in just 35 seconds via knockout. This was a Light Heavyweight fight, and was the last fight on the ION prelims. Pokrajac has won 3 of his last 4 inside the Octagon; Soszinski sees a two fight win streak come to an end here.

I have to admit, I was not looking forward to this fight much, thinking it would be a relatively basic affair. I was wrong. Pokrajac has shown he is a finisher in the past, and he proved it again here with this fast win, leaving his veteran opponent out cold unconscious after a barrage of punches. No one has dominated Soszynski like this since he fought Heavyweight Ben Rothwell in the IFL back in 2007. Just a fantastic showing for Pokrajac.

Mark Hominick vs. Chan Sung Jung UFC 140 Fight Video

At UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida, Chan Sung Jung shocked Mark Hominick, knocking the former #1 contender out in just 7 seconds. The fast KO officially tied Todd Duffee’s KO of Tim Hague for fastest knockout in UFC history. This was the opening PPV bout on UFC 140. Hominick has now lost 2 in a row, while The Korean Zombie is now 2-0 in the UFC.

Even those who picked Jung to win this fight probably didn’t see things going down like this. Hominick, the superior technical striker, came in quickly, but left his hands down. With one punch, Jung made him pay for his casual approach, landing a perfect right hand that dropped Mark Hominick mere moments into the fight. Jung jumped on him and finished the fight. Hominick complained afterwards, but it was a fair stoppage as he was out. Shocking victory for Jung, and a real unfortunate loss for Hominick in Canada.

Jon Jones vs Lyoto Machida UFC 140 Fight Video

Dana White has an instinct that many people don’t possess. He is a man who knows as to who is going to suit his organization, highly successful UFC in the coming year. When he inducted Jon Jones in the UFC, he was attacked for inducting a guy of just around 20 years of age. Boys of such age don’t really have wherewithal to join such a ferocious fighting forum like UFC.

But within a short period of time, this 24 year old boy has went on to become one of the most feared name in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and has beaten some of the biggest names in the MMA. Who would have dreamt that a young 20 something lad would come and beat a mighty Lyoto Machida so easily.

Frank Mir vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira #2 UFC Fight Video

Frank Mir was all but done, and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira appeared he’d even the score in their long-awaited rematch.

Instead, after being rocked early and seemingly a blow or two away from being battered into unconsciousness on the mat, Mir escaped, slapped on a kimura and then rolled with his the fellow jiu-jitsu ace before breaking Nogueira’s arm to force the stoppage.

The fight took place at UFC 140 at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. It co-headlined the night’s pay-per-view main card and followed prelims on Facebook and ION Television.
