Submissions are just as much of MMA as the KO Is. If it werent for Royce subbing people in UFC 1 then MMA wouldnt be the same as it is now, if it would even exist.

well you can’t KO people with a broken arm or leg……that’s the story.
Hope they can rematch though, and I really hope that Aoki can test himself with some mroe competitive fighters in the U.S..

It’s pretty lame that they tide this one with WAMMA but Aoki lost the DREAM LW shot against Hansen, now Aoki is WAMMA LW champ but not DREAM LW champ….so weird..

Aoki is a damn fool, every single fight he has he tries to manipulate his opponent with that dumb crap, and jumping on his opponent like a monkey. I’m sorry but that is not martial arts, instead of running away when he does that they just need to KNOCK HIM THE F@#% OUT,PERIOD!!!

aoki is unbelievable wen it comes 2 submissions 11 victorys in 22 fights, no wonder alverez was backin away from his bum scootin, the floor is the last place id wanna b with him… aoki has called out penn thats a fight id like 2 c, mayb dana could enter bj in a dream lw grand prix like he did with chuck wen he wanted 2 c him face silva….. dream has some ov the best lw’s around at this point in time alverez aoki hansen cavalcante

This is the first time that I’ve ever beheld Shinya Aoki,and to see him pull off a sub like that on a guy like Eddie Alvarez–a quality and skilled opponent–makes me think that PERHAPS some of the buzz I’ve heard about Aoki is justified.I truly hope so,because we need guys like him.The “smaller” guys and ALL THE WOMEN need a MJCH HIGHER PROFILE than they currently possess.They exemplify the technique,speed,skill,and HEART that is truly motivating in martial sport combatives.I’m also glad to see that a sub-specialist like Aoki can garner the kind of attention that he has.Due to the distinct standup inclination of the majority of watchers of the UFC,I fear that the subgame will be neglected or at least not properly developed for the next several years
