I've found that my big thing is trying to balance the right amount of protein, carbs and amino acids while trying to eat as many natural foods as I can. Obviously 5-6 small meals throughout the day is optimum as far as portions go. I try to stagger it between protein heavy and carb heavy meals. So usually my first meal will be packed with protein and my next with carbs. It also depends on what your workout routine is as well. I try and stick to fish, egss and lean beef for my protein. Fish is really the best as its a great source for protein and omega acids. I'm not one to watch my fat/caloric intake either but I pretty much avoid any non-natural sugars so that helps as well. I also don't do supplements either but I know plenty of guys who swear by them.

There are many different theories on that one. However since you're looking to trim down as opposed to bulk up I would suggest Usana protein shakes. They are a good balance of vitamins and protein and help promote lean muscle and weight loss.

Whey protein is the fastest acting protein so it is favored for gaining or keeping on lean muscle. Like Lascivious said nutrition wise there are so many factors. It gets down to weight, body fat %, age, metabolism, how active you are. All of these are major factors to really figure out how you would lose fat the healthy way.
