    No ground game.

  4. tomas on September 17th, 2008 10:57 pm

i thought it was gonna be over after the knee to the head, but damn schafer owned him!
    BJJ FTW

  5. me on September 17th, 2008 11:36 pm

Alexander hit him with an illegal knee at the beginning. Alexander sucks. bye bye ufc contract for Huston woohoo.

  6. Josh on September 17th, 2008 11:46 pm

was thinking the whole time why doesn’t he work the arm triangle, guess he was having too much fun unloading on Alexander

  7. adam on September 18th, 2008 12:08 am

houston is gone – and thankfully – when will joe silva not be so impressed with muscles and tats – what a ***

  8. bk on September 18th, 2008 2:10 am

alexander is a bum; just a gang-banger living off of one big upset knockout

it’d be nice if somebody could one day rid us of rampage “the felon” jackson, too

  9. palito_lippi on September 18th, 2008 4:42 am

can anyone tell me what is that submission technique? that’s awesome

  10. alex sayhi on September 18th, 2008 5:00 am

i was going for houston so much, but once again we have the confirmation that a strong striker with no ground game against a ground expert can t be won by the striker, at least most of the time.

  11. MIKE D on September 18th, 2008 5:44 am

ha ha….yall think houston is a gangbanger???…i know him personally and he has contributed his time to help the community as much as possible…and plus he has 6 kids that he has to take care of…the ufc has been the life changing experience for him and i would still put my money on him ne day of the week…so unless u know him dont judge him cuz hes one of the most genuine people that i know…thank you.

  12. Mark on September 18th, 2008 7:35 am

palito_lippi… that techinique is called the “Arm Triangle.” The way Schaffer set it up was very good.

  13. ADam s on September 18th, 2008 8:46 am

I agree with Mike D. Huston is not a gang banger and has had more great matches then just knocking out jardine. I honestly see him being a top contender in the ufc for a very long time.

  14. Murrain on September 18th, 2008 10:28 am

Where was the ref (or Joe) on that plainly obvious illegal knee?

  15. Wardimus83 on September 18th, 2008 10:37 am

When you get beat by Eric Schafer, I dont care what anybody says, you should know Its time to look for a new profession! Eric Schafer, Elvis Sinosic, Houston Alexander etc… Fighters like this are good for 1 thing and thats making average fighters look good.

  16. Ray on September 18th, 2008 11:21 am

Its funny how the posts on here are racist. But if any one of you were to see Houston or Rampage in person you would be quiet and wouldnt have anything to say. Its a shame that we still live in a place where racist remarks and thoughts still exist..

Houston just has a lot to learn when it comes to his ground game. He will be evolving and I am glad to know he will be around fro a long time to keep people like you hating!!!!

  17. Ray on September 18th, 2008 11:34 am

Also the was not an illegal knee, he hit Shafer in the chest not the head. Maybe you should watch carfully at the video instead of making stupid racist comments.

  18. steve on September 18th, 2008 1:02 pm

As if houston is even in the ufc, he has 0 ground game, and not even that good of standup, they need to test that juice monkey!

  19. iceman888srf on September 18th, 2008 1:15 pm

houston could be great mabe time for 185 . he needs better trainning partners. until tha he just be **** .. go to exterm couture houston.. iam a fan he has so much talant. just no ground game at all. it bad. this might be the last time we see him

  20. p dubble on September 18th, 2008 1:31 pm

its real obvious to me that houston is way overrated. Thats not hatin thats a fact ,i tried to look up eric schafer and he duznt exist what does that tell you?

  21. p dubble on September 18th, 2008 1:36 pm

oh and mike d il take that bet.

  22. paddedummy on September 18th, 2008 2:02 pm

The second knee was to the face and racism is a positive thing just like nationalism. It isn’t about hating other ethnic groups it’s about putting your people’s best interests first. It’s called loyalty, not that I would expect the confused and heavily mixed results of the melting pot experiment to understand anything about that

  23. josh on September 18th, 2008 2:16 pm

i think that alexander has alot to learn on the ground and his stand up he is like cuck lidell he just hits hard with no technique but he is a big atheletic guy i with the other guy go to xtreme cotoure and he is a future champ and as for eric schafer his is somebody did you see the michel bisping fight that was a tuff fight. he has the best arm triangle that i have ever seen that is the second guy he has finished in the ufc with that.

“alexander is a bum; just a gang-banger living off of one big upset knockout

Whoever wrote this is a spastic prick! Houston isn’t a “gang-banger” you thick c**t! He actually visits schools teaching kids not to start drugs and get pulled into gangs! So get your facts right in future before you say stupid s**t

  25. DN on September 18th, 2008 3:57 pm

    MMA = mixed martial artist

    Houston = stand up

Other = lay on top of ya

Niether of the two are true mma. they both have a 1D aproach to fighting

  26. zzz on September 18th, 2008 7:00 pm

Okay, say this fight on TV and just had to say it: Alexander has no ground game. That mount was like taking candy from a baby.

  27. NLBD on September 18th, 2008 10:56 pm

Alexander is the best example of the kind of fighter which layman think he is good becasue his awesome scary shape but actually get beaten up easily often…
And it really makes me feel bad for him when I heard that “..he raise 6 children by himself, and he donated 1 of his kidney to his daughter in 2000…”, and it makes feel even worth when I see him struggle on the ground like a fish on the hot concrete. He had his chance to win in the beginning, but he needs some new game plan. I agree with the above comment that Eric Schafer is not a really strong fighter….he is too slow on the ground and his passes are blessed by the poor skill of Alexander.

  28. GSP fan on September 18th, 2008 11:49 pm

how was that an elegal knee? r u high buddy

  29. big big muscle! on September 19th, 2008 3:15 am

i counted 3 illegal knees… btw Eric’s picture makes him look like ****** bobby flay LOL. houston alexander sucks.

  30. big big muscle! on September 19th, 2008 3:17 am

DN, Mixed Martial Arts means allowing different martial arts to go against eachother, instead of just jiu jitsu vs jiu jitsu, or boxing vs boxing. this was the original plan. as you can see jiu jitsu is better than barfighting.

  31. Tomas on September 19th, 2008 6:50 pm

I hear he does alot for his community, but sadly he brings nothing to the UFC.

His fanbase seems to be made up of drunk people who go to UFC events to watch a brawl rather than a good MMA match, and boo if people aren’t being knocked out every 5 seconds.

  32. Zacchaeus on September 20th, 2008 12:48 am

There was ONE illegal knee. Not 3 not 2. Second knee of the opening flurry. Go check it, it’s obvious. The force of the knee to the head knocked him for a loop for sure. All the same it didn’t help any. I see lots of mad props for Houston’s contributions to his community. Bottom line, that’s all nice and fluffy and blah blah. This is a mma site, that is the ufc. Go sing his praises on whatever website there might be about stuff like that. When he steps in that ring he is a fighter, not a community leader, not a swell guy. He either steps up and fights a good fight or he get humiliated like he did here. Yay, he taught some kids not to do drugs. Yay , he dedicates to much time to teaching other kids what they shouldn’t do and not enough time improving his work so he can keep feeding those 6 kids he has of his own. Prioritize dude, feed your kids today, save the world another day.

  33. mma_enthusiast on September 20th, 2008 2:10 am

Houston would be decent if he worked on his wrestling and jiu jitsu.

  34. ihsman on September 29th, 2008 10:35 am

I hope Houston can return to the ufc, he has great potential, awesome power. I feel he has too much power, if you watch him when he is standing up, he doesn”t look that stable on his feet. With better trainers, he will be a fighte to watch. He actually is a very nice guy, just watch his interviews, very charismatic individual, he just gets pumped up during a fight. I love the dude.

  35. MMA Observer on October 12th, 2008 8:38 pm

Alexander got beaten by Eric Schafer….Its clear that he will never learn from his mistakes. Beaten 3 times in a row? Pathetic. Of the three loses,James Irvin was the only non upset loss(because everybody knew Irvin would win) but the other two guys have no muscle mass nor strength, despite that, he got mounted and trampled by the two.

  36. Jayward on January 22nd, 2009 4:31 pm

“racism is a positive thing just like nationalism.”

Hahahahahah… wow… how is nationalism in any way similar to racism… you clearly have an incredibly skewed (and ultimately incorrect) concept of both history and political ideology… once again, wow…

  37. Aussie1 on August 15th, 2009 10:44 am

Houston is good at finishing fights lying on his back. His rock shaped body and pit bull attitude in the ring comes from working out with weights at a gym. He hits hard as said above and has limited ground performance and I noticed his endurance is not that good. With his power he should of escaped from the full mount but he was gassed and didnt educate himself well enough because the same thing happened with the Thiago fight. Good luck to him at 185.

  38. HELLDOWN on September 6th, 2009 2:34 am

THAT’S A BEAUTIFUL MMA PERFORMANCE WITH HEART AND TECHNIQUE. AWESOME

  39. Magnumpi1 on October 19th, 2009 12:03 pm

Come on guys, all the talk here is about Houston, we gotta show some big props to Red, he weathered some huge hits, and pulled off a stunning upset. Sure, he was KO’d by Bisping, and Bonner, but if anyone has seen his other fights, and some of his non-televised fights, he is an amazing submission artist who utilizes some very creative chokes. Good job Red, see you at UFC 104
