Man. Houston’s past wins coming back ten fold to haunt him now. Sure that Jardine is feeling better about this.

  2. Beddall on April 3rd, 2008 12:05 am

Wouldn’t Jardine be feeling worse? He lost to this guy…
Irvin guaranteed it wouldn’t get past the first round.. didn’t get past the first minute - good call.

  3. Recruiter on April 3rd, 2008 12:06 am

Man! What happened to him? May he was too hungry and over-confident to keep his distance

  4. The Source on April 3rd, 2008 12:53 am

The sand man with another stellar knock out. Brings me back to when he knocked out Terry Martin with a flying knee at the start of the 2nd round. What power!

  5. fan man on April 3rd, 2008 2:11 am

No controversy here….Houston was out cold. If Mazaggati hadn’t stopped the fight, Houston would have a broken jaw and be in the hospital with at least a concussion.

  6. Ubah on April 3rd, 2008 2:37 am

Can we say, We got our butt kicked….

And he deserves it for talking all that smack about irvin,,,,

He must feel pretty Stupid now

  7. sean on April 3rd, 2008 3:34 am

it seems as though alexander wasn’t even hit well… more like he slipped…his head didnt even cock back when irvin so called connected with him

  8. Chris on April 3rd, 2008 3:38 am

    Lame.

  9. scott on April 3rd, 2008 3:51 am

whoa. great knock out…his head didn’t have to cock back. sometimes a graze on your lid is all it takes. it was enough to put him down, and one solid punch on the ground for good measure.

  10. cwood on April 3rd, 2008 4:16 am

no punch there……but an elbow connected for real.

watch it again and pause it at 2:46/2:47

  11. john on April 3rd, 2008 4:34 am

fastest knockout in the UFC? i guess? BUT!!! very lame!!!!…!!! call
    !!! poor ufc …. no good refs today…how sad…

  12. sting on April 3rd, 2008 4:57 am

Are you kidding??? Knee’s buckled, hands dropped, no sign of trying to protect himself. Great job Mazagati! He is not brain dead for no reason and lives to fight another day… C’mon people, MMA fans are supposed to be 100 times smarter than the old boxing fans… He caught one, he went down, he lost.

  13. atticus31 on April 3rd, 2008 7:22 am

No question about this call, Houston was done. He may have recovered quickly, but there was clearly a second or two that he couldn’t defend himself. If the fight wasn’t stopped he would have taken a lot more punishment. As far as I’m concerned, if you want to see guys get beat while they lay unconscious go watch felony fights. This is what seperates the UFC from a street brawl.

  14. ray125 on April 3rd, 2008 7:33 am

The ref should’ve let Irvin throw at least 4 more punches. Just to see if Houston was going to actually recover with Irving on top. I was going for Houston, but oh well. Houston did get a punch and an elbow right after that. Irving did his thing last night. I bet if Herb Dean (best ref in MMA in my opinion) was the ref, he would’ve waited at least 3 to 4 more punches.

  15. DARREN on April 3rd, 2008 8:42 am

ARE YOU KIDDING? HE DIDN’T EVEN CONNECT ON THE LAST THREE PUNCHES ESPECIALLY AT 2:10 MARK. THE FIGHT HAD TO BE RIGGED.SOMEONE MADE A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS FIGHT. I’M DISAPPOINTED

  16. field_negro on April 3rd, 2008 8:46 am

    big muscles ain’t shiznit…

  17. ovastayaa on April 3rd, 2008 8:48 am

would’ve love 2c how many hammer fists houston could handle while down. i love mma cos of the no standing 8 count so shouldn’t irvin be aloud 2 finish him off 4real? then houston given the chance 2 fight his way back from the dead. jus 1 mans opinion. love this website man

  18. treelife on April 3rd, 2008 8:51 am

randy couture was right , big muscles don’t mean a thing , they may look intimidating , … you saw the result, loose some of that bulk he looks stoopid getting KTFO like that…

  19. GMen on April 3rd, 2008 9:41 am

I agree with sean. I didn’t see one clean hit. cwood is right in that Houston didn’t get caught with a punch during the superman punch. If anything, it looks like a hellacious elbow.

Honestly though, this fight seems staged…

  20. GMen on April 3rd, 2008 9:57 am

nevermind. I saw it in high-definition and he just got KTFO with the punch, not an elbow. I didn’t see any clean shots once he was on the ground though.

  21. PunisheR on April 3rd, 2008 2:58 pm

I feel bad for the Houston fan in the front row with the T-shirt & picture…..I bet that ruined his whole night.LOL, but in all fairness he did seem out of it & about to take some bad blows to the face if not stopped.

  22. john on April 3rd, 2008 9:28 pm

When u get knock down, if ur not out, ur first reflex will be to put ur hands, arm in front of your face!! Both his arms were just soft hanging on each side of his head..he was out for a sec..and as the ref comes in he regains consciensness! If Irwin stays on top of him instead of the ref…Does anyone of you really believe it would have ended any otherway???If you do..ur right out or it!!!All it proves is that defense is just as important than offense… I would just say to Irwin(because after all that talk..”were gona stand up and trade shots)It was a bit of a sneaky move..superman punch right of the bat..but he knew what he was doing. Great stopage he wold have only eat more shot in the face if not!!! Houston don’t be an idiot(u already proven ur not the smartest guy out there) but u should thx the ref..for looking up for ur safety as u obviously don’t pay to much attentionto that!Thats what it is! No other way to see that fight!

  23. MagicMan on April 4th, 2008 5:00 am

I think ref did a good job. Houston was hurt and could of taken some real damage if it wasn’t stopped. Never was a big houston fan, always thought he was overrated anyways. Ref should have let Irvin punch him in the face a few more times so all these Houston nut huggers wouldn’t have anything to complain about.

  24. BigRob on April 4th, 2008 5:15 am

IDIOTS! Houston was out!!! He was really saved. Look at his hands when his on his back… does that look lika a man whos defending himself?!?! He doesent even know his down. He was saved from a serious beating, he should be thankful!

  25. babaganush on April 4th, 2008 1:03 pm

or maybe kimbo slice, tank abbot, buentello, or my personal favorite knockle head justin eilers

  26. sdfsdfsdfsd on April 7th, 2008 12:04 pm

    bombkalat

  27. Rabbinowitz on July 8th, 2008 10:18 am

Funny idiots who think he wasnt KNOCKED OUT, Irvin was gonna kill him if it hadnt been stopped.

  28. Dan on July 9th, 2008 1:17 pm

he was defenatly gone and for the ppl who are saying 3 or 4 more punches do you know how dangerous it is to let somebody knocked out get punched! you are stupid if you think its ok to do so

  29. collin on July 13th, 2008 3:24 pm

what hapens if alexander did recover? you think he wouldve gotten out? he was on his back when irvin was on top. either irvin had the fight over. mazzagati just saved alexander from more punches

  30. mikie on July 15th, 2008 2:38 am

Very impressive punching power from Irvin can’t wait for the spider to get in there with him that will be Irvin’s ultimate test

  31. metallideth16 on August 20th, 2008 4:27 pm

whoever disagrees with the ref is ******….houston got ktfo…and the ref stopped it at the right time…if the fight kept going….irvin would of broke his face…those one or 2 seconds he wasnt defending can make alot of difference morons

  32. patrickgamil on October 3rd, 2008 5:33 pm

    great job by ref mazagatti.
being recovered 2 secs later makes no difference - alexander would have gotten hit very hard 6 x if it wenr for 2 more secs - no point other than for the ignorant or the sicko to watch.

  33. MMA Observer on October 12th, 2008 7:38 pm

Listen, Houston Alexander will never beat James Irvin or any other seasoned fighter. Why? Because he is too slow and inexperienced. He has no speed so he cant trade punches with anyone and he has no ground skill so he cant hope to succeed there either. Also, i’ve noticed he cant take a punch either. He should quit before he gets embarrased any more.
