compared to shogun machida is a lot better. if shogun will be facing wrestlers i mean good wrestlers he wouldnt stand a chance. he will easily be taken down just like in his fights with coleman. good thing the last time they fought coleman was not the same anymore. but look how the fight ended. it ended in a decision with rua really tired because of wrestling against coleman. if shogun will always be facing those who love standup there would only be a few who will have the chance against him. in the case of machida he has already proven he is also good in wrestling just like his fight with ortiz. from what i know he has a background in sumo wrestling.

That was a close fight. It should be a split decision or a draw. I don’t base it on the marks on the face or redness on the stomach, I base it on how the fighter intelligently offending and defending himself. Look at GSP and Penn 1st fight, the fight was controversial but who won??? GSP..

For me, Machida win via split decision. We know the fans on that arena think Shogun won the fight because he dominated the 4th and 5th round, then they already forgotten the 1st, 2nd and the 3rd round. Also, as you can hear the commentators, they always talked about Shogun’s attack and countering and how good Shogun was, and when Machida attacks or counter they will just ignore it.

I can’t wait for the rematch to know who is the better fighter.

Shogun won the fight. hands down. he landed more effective blows and controlled the pace. Even dana white says shogun won the fight. Evrytime Shogun landed anything machida stopped and backed away. Machida had a flury of punches that barely landed and he was countered by shogun at the end so he practically ran away. Good thing there fighitng again

Those guys who look at face marks to determine a winner lok at teh face of Fedor Emelyanenko, which was pretty much marked by Rogers who was miseraoly beaten by Fedor.

Lyaoto definetely won. Here is my scores of meaningful strikes/punches/kicks. I do not consider the aggressiveness as something deserving scoring, often it is just a very bad thing and a sign of readneckness:

Round 1: Machida 10; Shogun : 5
Round 2: Machida 8 ; Shogun : 2
Round 3: Machida 14 ; Shogun : 3
Round 4: Machida 8 ; Shogun : 2
Round 5: Machida 2 ; Shogun : 4

So I consider Machida’s self assesment to be correct. 4:1 Machida won.
Do not listen to these comentators, looks like they were paid to affect people’s opinion in favor of Shogun. Who paid them I do not know. Clearly, it was pre-meditatively bias. Why I think they were paid? Just because obviously both of them dismissed all Machida’s attackes and gave undeserved attention to Shogun leg/body flashng kiks (mostly blocked and countered). One person can just be mistaken, but 2 people saying the same BS are definitely paid for that (or may be intimidated to do this).

I like Machida. I wanted him to win, but from what I saw Shogun dominated almost the entire fight. He didn’t only land leg kicks. He also got a few elbows in, and a few good punches. He blocked Machidas head kicks. The only thing that hurt him was the knees that Machida landed. If you still think that Machida won look at the faces of both compitors when they are announcing the winnner of the fight. Machida is bloody, and Shogun doesn’t have a scratch.

Rua “shogun” won, let’s keep it real. Machida is a great fighter, but in all do fairness he lost that fight… We need new judges.
