Malaipet’s stand-up is usually even more deadly. But when you also have to worry about being taken down, it takes a lot of it away. If you have confidence that you are hard to take down, then it starts to shine. Malaipet, don’t train with the BJJers. Go train with wrestlers like Couture, Kevin Jackson, or Henderson, who are familiar with MMA, and you will be deadly in MMA. Wrestlers are kings of takedowns and takedown defense. Learn level changes and hip heisting and you will go a long way. Few in MMA can match your strikes, once you no longer have to worry about being taken down so easily.
