not a bad loss for nate…if anything he gets to fight more middle of the pack fighters…he will be ready for a title shot in the future…as for guida…what can i say…he pulled a tito ortiz..i don’t agree with the decision but hey it is what it is…they put too much points into controlling a fighter though..they just my opinion
that’s*
good fight for nate….he’ll be better next time around.
guida is a bum very boaring fighter, loss alot of respect
damn i thought that if diaz got taken down he’d be able to pull off his slick submissions, but gotta hand it to guida, he got good defense and sick cardio.
this UFC card sucks so bad…..I was expecting Dun Hyung Kim to do something better and a KO result in Stephen vs JJ match. And for this one…….I already knew it’s gonna be something like thisso it wasn’t that bad. I hope they don’t put Guida with Sean Sherk or Tyson Griffin….that’s just gonna be a 18 mins break for the audience to get another beer or go restroom.
Anyway, it’s awesome to see Nate did his brother’s trick, “2 hands up, and BANG in your face!”.
i dont know what nate was thinking he should have kept moving back and throwing that jab more you cant win a fight on your back unless you can pull off a submission
Clay Is The Man I Cant Wait For His Next Fight
[...] Mir Shoots on Brock Lesnar 20 01 2009 Brock Lesnar’s debut UFC fight (and only his second professional fight) ended with him tapping out to a Frank Mir ankle [...]
i definitely thought DIAZ should have won.. Clay held onto him from the backside for half the fight.. To me, when you grab someone like that it is to try to take them down. And Diaz was able to counter those weak grab ass take down attempts by setting up the standing kimura. So if guida is trying to take diaz down and diaz prevents that, who should get points for that? Also, Diaz clearly dominated the stand up.
Though Diaz has great submissions and wins fights for a reason, outside of the ring he’s completely unprofessional and can barely put a coherent sentence together. Clay at least has a brain in his head to strategize with in the ring. I have been waiting someone to KO Diaz but this will have to do for the moment.
HORRIBLE!!!!!
yet another crooked ass decision from the ufc
guida is a joke all he has is outstanding conditioning and sum wresting skills
this was Nate fight by a mile
@brian you talk about game plan but guida fights the same everytime his “grab and hold on for 3 straight” is whack. the diaz brothers are highly under rated and who cares if their I.Q. 75 or 200, they come to fight. GUIDA
p.s. fedor would destroy old man randy, and would beat lesnar aswell

bart – i didnt just ’see grab and hold on’ – granted it was there for the majority. I also saw quick leg kicks, attempted ground and pound and some enthusiastic but low quality sparring. When was Nate on the offensive other than the great group of shots he caught clay with once or twice? Guida disarmed Nates advantages and won IMO. If you disagree it’s cool – split decisions are always tough.
The IQ thing is indeed random. It was just me venting my personal opinion and really dosent effect their standing as fighters too much. However, obviously Guida ‘came to fight’ and win that night.
@ brian
spoken with respect. previous statement retracted (bad call)
after reviewing the vid, i have the fight fight 2-1 Guida.
however this is based on the first 2 rounds where guida controlled diaz by simply by “holdin on”
yea i saw a very small number of leg kicks and a couple of decent slams but not really any effective “ground and pound” or anything for that matter that was effective except his “grabbin and holdin” i just think guida is a one dimensional fighter and none of his wins (that i recall seeing) are impressive.
both of them fought with no heart you no why kenny florian is so great . BECAUSE HE FINISH FIGHTS . WAY TO MANY LITTLE GIRLS IN 155 FIGHTING 4 A DISHION. I WANA BUST UP SO MANY OF THEM . EX FRANK EGER GRAY MANYERD TYSON GRIFFEN. AND MABE RICH CLAMENTIN . OH YA CLAY GUDIA AS WELL .
nate diaz finishes fights too. (2 of 10 wins was by decision)
he just doesnt go crazy with the elbows like kenny
i think it was a good fight for both fighters…it couldve gone both ways u can see that nates stand up was 2 much for guida so guida does wat will get him the win. go 2 that wrestling but like i said it was a good fight any1 of them could have walked away with the win…
Did yall see that sick slam guida put on nate….NICE!!!!!
that was a good fight but i think nate should have won
clay i lost alot of respect pratice more on ur hands
WOW none of you know what the hell your talking about….. Diaz did nothing the first two rounds. Stop watchim MMA if you want to see a boxing match. Guida was physicaly dominant. Diaz should work on his takedown defence. Diaz only had a couple exchanges on the feet that were any good throughout the whole fight. You all forget that little spirt at the end where he was dominant on his feet only counted for one round. Guida dominated the first two rounds. Diaz had to submit or knockout guida and he wasnt throwing any shots hard enough for that.
well, sure clay was just controlling the guy the whole match, why would he win. He didn’t really do anything right? well when you control the whole fight and the other guy doesnt do anything at all or couldnt do anything at all, you have to give it to the guy who controlled the fight.. there isnt anything else to base the fight off.. It’s not like nate was doing anything impressive of overwhelming clay.. Now if the judges picked clays clench and hold and control over nate’s awsome consistent striking and ground game, then i would agree, it’s not right. But there just wan’t enough action in this fight to base the win off of anything else.
Guida, just didn’t want to LOSE. plain and simple.nate worked for more subs, defended everything thrown at him and owned the stand up.. if it had been a 5 round fight, nate would have subbed him..
oh yeah, i saw the guy above talking about Guida “controlling” thematch. nope sorry held held on. if you have someone’s back for that long you should finsish not stand there.
also “Diaz should work on his takedown defence” have you been drinking? nate took guida down more and Stopped guida from taking him down many times.. get some glasses my friend.
yep, just re watched it again. Still agree that this fight just did not have the ACTION to base the win over. You either picked the guy who was being held or the guy who was holding. It sucks, i know, i was booing this fight because Clay just held, but in no way does Nate win this fight. NO WAY! Nate tried take down attempts where Clay just got the better position after the takedown. I’m watching it again as i type. There is no way Nate won this fight at all. His striking was not enough to win the fight. He had spurts for like for a little bit at a time out of a 5 min round. It would have been a rob if Nate won this because he clearly did not win. Maybe he did not lose either, but he DEFINITELY DEFINITELY did not win. This goes back to my point that there isn’t enough in this fight to judge it. You’d have to simply give it to the holder, not the person who is being held. On a side note, what probably gave this fight to Clay was Nate’s loserish flexing after each round of being out muscled by clay. That gave me a good laugh because hes got nothing. To me that showed that he’s a sore loser or that he was beat so bad he didn’t know what was going on. Saying he didnt get beat that bad, he’s probably a sore loser.
Nate Won this fight.. Guida hardly did any damage.. it was all nate.. and all of those throws are take downs.. those judges are high
Are you freaking stupid? Nate Diaz may have put on a few pounds since he became a professional fighter, but he is still what he’s always been…and what he’ll always be…
A PUNK. A punk who thinks he’s better than people and all around him are better than all those not around him. He’s not overly strong, he’s not overly slick. He’s overly LUCKY, is what he is.
Face it idiots. If we all had long & lanky arms and practiced for a while, we’d all get LUCKY, just like nate. His brother Nick, may be a different story in some light, but Nate should go back to Stockton and be a bag boy for the grocery store, atleast there his attitude comensurates with his pay.
NATE THE BEST
