   Josh - NOPE….Tank had a dramatic knockout his first timein the UFC against a Hawaiian dude in less than 20 seconds….He was the bad boy of the UFC before Tito.

   I think people loved to see him get the crap beat out of him…I know that I did.

   Tank Abbot a UFC Hall of Famer was ‘the man’ back in the day. Always fun to watch. You guys have no respect for how powerful he used to be. Keep in mind these were back in the days of bare Knuckle no holds barred. When guys weren’t cross trained like they are now. He was primerily a street fighter with a background in wrestling/boxing. When he 1st fought in UFC 6 he was expected to lose. He was to be proof that a Martial Artist back in the day could dispose of a street fighter any day. It didn’t quite happen. He was the first fighter to wear gloves in MMA. People laughed at him becuase they thought it would hinder the power of one’s punches. Now look at MMA. Everyone wears gloves. Tank put it this way ” I like to hit people. I’ve actually been in a fight so I know that your hands get hurt.” He may not have been the most gifted or skilled fighter but he definitly has his place in MMA history.

   Tank wasn’t the first to wear gloves. I rememeber in one of the first UFC events a boxer actually wore boxing gloves!

   Tank was the first to prove that being able to benchpress hundreds of pounds doesn’t make you a good fighter though

   Just so you know.
   I read it in a magazine (Fighters Only Aug 08). I think they said they were Harbinger bag gloves. I wouldn’t make this s*** up. Its just i notice a huge difference between OLD SCHOOL MMA FANS & NEW MMA FANS & wanted to mention some facts. So unless you can remember which “UFC event” (LOL) it was & the boxers name i think you’re missing the point………………………….oh yeah and thats right, they don’t put ‘good fighters’ in the UFC Hall of Fame do they? LMAO!
